a little update!

hi friends! seriously, I do not know how time goes by so fast, but, alas, it does! I figured since I am on my own this weekend and have a little down time, it was time for an update! Hmmm….what’s new?

Ah! Weight Watchers! I had my first weigh in last week and I am down 3.2…woohooo! Gotta love seeing those losses! It’s such a great program and I definitely recommend it for someone who is looking for a real lifestyle change and not a “diet.”

More big news in our lives is that we are expanding our family! Or…should I say, we HAVE expanded our family! No no no, no baby…definitely not! But we did extend our family and got a dog last weekend! His name is Jack and he is a terrier mix…we got him at the Humane Society and he is seriously awesome. We have talked about a dog for a really long time but kept putting off looking. Well, last week we were looking online and saw a picture of Jack and went to meet him. Honestly, I wanted a dog because I thought it would be fun and I know Chris LOVES dogs, so I went along with it and met him. Well, little did I know I would absolutely fall in love with the little guy! I love taking care of him, making sure he gets play time and going on at least 1 long walk a day, it’s so great…and he doesn’t cry or need diapers changed. :) So, maybe I am going to turn into one of those crazy dog ladies, but I can’t tell you how happy I am that he has joined our little family. Today he and I hopped in the car and went to the AWESOME dog park at Piedmont Park. We walked about a mile around the park and then ended up there. It’s a great, huge fenced area where dogs can get off their leashes and RUN, which is nothing like our little parking lot here. At first he walked right next to me with his tail WAY between his legs, then he went and played on his own, then he started chasing dogs and literally ran for a solid hour, it was so cool. I think the dog park (or a dog park) is going to be part of our Saturday routine…get some energy out!

Another thing I have really realized lately is how much I love living in the city. I was raised in the suburbs and it’s really all  I have ever known. Living downtown has been a big adjustment for me, but I am really starting to love it! I was a little nervous for the first few months when I would see a homeless person or a situation that was definitely not something you would see in the suburbs, but now that I am out walking more in our neighborhood I am having conversations with the people that used to make me nervous and I realize they have a story too. I’m really excited to see what God has planned for Chris and I in our community…there is much to be done!

Speaking of walking, I am also heading up a team to walk the Atlanta Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. It is a 3 day (duh), 60 mile walk through Atlanta to benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation. I am really excited. It requires a lot of training, a lot of fundraising, and A LOT of walking! I am nervous and excited all at the same time….it’s definitely going to be a challenge.

Well, that’s a pretty good update, right? Now I will leave you with pics of Jack!
