stair climb::atlanta

So, my friend Casey  signed up to do this stair climb in Atlanta, it is a fundraiser for the American Lung Association. After she signed up she found out that she will be out of town  and asked me to do it in her place, so I said yes! I went to check out the training for it and it looks intense! The event is a 50 flight stair climb in the Bank of America Building in Downtown Atlanta. So, starting the first week in February I will be training for 2 months for the stair climb! I have never done anything that requires me to train for anything, or done any kind of fitness challenge, so I am pretty excited about it!! My sister Kelly is going to do it with me, so I am glad I won’t be by myself doing it! I think it’s going to be really cool, but I am definitely a little nervous about it! :)

Also, starting Monday I am going back to the good ole Weight Watchers. I have been really frustrated with myself lately and have tried calorie counting, high protein diets, and all of the other things out there, but I just can’t seem to stick to any of them, so I decided that Weight Watchers helped me lose 40 pounds, it can help me get to my final goal FINALLY and lose 15-20 more pounds. I am pretty excited about it. I love counting point and the flexibility to be able to get Milk Duds at the movies if I want…it’s just what works for me! So, stay tuned, now that I have made it public, hopefully I will stick to it! :)

Happy New Year!

    What a cool fundraiser! I’ve never heard of such an event – good luck with your training! Since you brought up that you’re also trying to lose weight, I thought I’d mention a GREAT program that would help with your training (big time!) and the weight too. I’m an instructor at Operation Bootcamp (www.operationbootcamp.com) at Terrell Mill Park…you can come out on one (or both) of two times this month to try it out if you want. Our next session starts monday (Jan 5) and the following starts the first monday in Feb. Let me know if you want any more info or if you want to come for a free day :)

    Awesome,

    I am going to do this stair climb also. I wanted to do it last year but my daughters recital was on the same day. I will be able to o it this year. The lung association id not have organized training last year. So, I am wander who is holding training sessions? I have a training program but it would require me to do it alone or i could do it with more people. Anyone interested?

    I’m thinking about trying this as well. I ran a 5K last week at 33:15, but I know I’ll have to kick up my training to deal with stairs. I’ve lost 40 lb. on WW but have at least 15 more to reach the high end of my goal range. Any ideas of where to train on stairs in the Northlake/Tucker area?
