things I miss…and things I love!

(I apologize for the formatting in this post – for some reason the bullets are not working for me today!!)

Ok, you guys know I am not shy about talking about real things here, so I thought I would do a post about the things I miss about “normal life” during pregnancy.  Hopefully some of you prenant ladies can relate, or else this post is really going to make me look like a hormonal basketcase! :) I thought I would be one of those women who *love* being pregnant, but, I have learned that alas, I am not! I am so, so, so excited to meet Little Girl (and really love feeling her move around…that part of pregnancy is cool!!) and can’t wait to prepare for her arrival, but when it comes to the actual pregnancy…not lovin’ it!

**disclaimer:: Again, I am SO excited to be pregnant and about meeting this baby! In no way is this a reflection of not being excited or happy, just being candid about the reality of pregnancy, and I am sure many of you can relate! All of these sacrifices are totally worth it!**

  • Being asked “how are you feeling?” instead of asking how I am doing – Seriously, whenever someone asks me that it makes me want to punch them in the face. I have NO idea why it drives me SO crazy, but it really, really does.  My response to this question is almost always “I feel great! How are YOU feeling?” Always catches people off guard. Ok, vent over.
  • Pregnancy Breakouts. Did you know that anything under your nose is considered hormonal and nothing can be done about it? I did not know this until this pregnancy….such a tragedy. Some women have awesome skin during pregnancy, I, on the other hand, do not!
  • Drinking wine…end of story. I miss it.
  • Air Jacks and Plyo Jumps in Turbo Kick, I feel like a slacker doing them low impact!
  • Sleeping on my stomach
  • my strapless dresses…enough said. That strapless bra is not happening these days!
  • A nice, long ab workout

However, there are most definitely some perks to pregnancy as well!!

  • extra calories everyday….HELLO! 300 extra calories is A LOT for someone who is used to counting their calories! I can use that 300 calories on more healthy foods, orrrrr splurge a little. Not gonna lie, loving that part!
  • beautiful nails and hair – thank you prenatals!
  • stretchy waistbands and long shirts
  • did I mention 300 extra calories?! ;)
  • feeling a tiny little human move around inside of you…THAT is pretty cool (albeit a bit creepy at the same time)

So, your turn! What did you miss while you were pregnant?

wine for sure was missed!!!! and sleeping on my stomach, I was an avid stomach sleeper before and now after being pregnant i have become mostly a side sleeper. I just got used to it eventually. The breakouts… Um OH MY WORD! i had a unibrow of zits and it unfortunately lasted until about a month ago ( i know its normal to hang around after birth but still ICK!)

Pregnancy was def different than I expected its not all fresh smelling roses but its special in its own ways! I do miss a lot of it though.

I definitely missed drinking the most (though I still did on occasion…shhhh, don’t tell).  I also HATED peeing every 20 minutes in my disgusting work bathroom.  Oh, and can’t forget how totally awesome it was throwing up on street corners and in bushes during my first trimester.  I did get to rock a 2 piece swimsuit in a totally different kind of way though. :)

Well not sure what I’ll miss, but I do know I’m looking forward to some of the perks. One being actually having boobs at some point in my life. :-)

I miss being able to roll over in bed without it being a 17-point turn!  I totally take for granted how easily and freely I move when not pregnant, right up until the moment I have to lever myself out of a lower-riding car or plush sofa.  I did miss the stretchy waistbands after I moved back into regular clothes after my first pregnancy, though.  No zippers or buttons are really nice!
