Elliot – 5 Months

Elliot – 5 Months

I cannot believe our sweet, sweet girl is 5 months old. Time is flying by and I honestly wish I could make it stand still. The past 5 months have been the most exciting, fun and joyous times of my life. I absolutely love being Elliot’s mom and am honored to call her mine…I just love that little girl so much! So, here’s a little 5 month update…excuse the poor picture quality, these are all from my phone, this is the 1 reason I want an iPhone!

Elliot, at 5 months:

  • you really love your mama and daddy…but right now you really love mommy! Whenever anyone is holding you, if I am in the room, your eyes are locked on me.
  • you can sit for about 20-30 seconds unassisted, but mommy is always right there to catch you so you don’t bonk your head on the floor…we really need to get some rugs…
  • you are trying SO hard to roll from your back to your tummy, but you haven’t figured it out yet.

Weigh-In Wednesday…a little late

oops, I’m a day late on this! I weighed in yesterday with the full intention of  blogging it, and now it is somehow the end of the day on Thursday. Time just goes by too fast. So, here we go!

Weekly Loss: .2

Total Loss: 11.2

Workouts Completed: 4

Days staying within caloric range: 1…crickets…crickets…

Other Updates: I have a plan! I have a plan! I remembered that with my Y membership I get from teaching I can work out at ANY Y! So I have decided to go to a class on Tuesday/Thursday mornings from 7-8am, then I am teaching on Saturdays, and trying to get in workouts on the other days if I can. Gotta ease back into this. I did the class this morning and realized how out of shape I am…omg. Can’t wait to get back in shape…and back on track!

Parenting is like science…

So the past few weeks I have discovered that parenting does not have a recipe…which, for a Type-A like me can be frustrating. Elliot has been taking 45 minute (to the second) naps lately so I have been in trouble-shooting mode to fix it. (Mind you, we are making progress, but…not the point) So, in my research of Googling 45 minute naps this is what I have learned:

A growth spurt could look like:

  • increase in night sleep and naps
  • decrease in night sleep in naps

Teething:

  • decrease in night sleep and naps
  • increase in night sleep and naps

Sickness:

  • decrease in night sleep and naps
  • increase in night sleep and naps

Are we seeing a pattern here? Clearly there is no answer to this, hence why I decided parenting an infant is just a big game of troubleshooting day in and day out.

Here’s to an increase/decrease in night sleep and naps…and maybe a glass of wine every night to soften the blow.…

Weigh-In Wednesday

This was an interesting week! Now, some of this may be TMI for some of you, but, it’s my blog and it’s not TMI for me, so I am sharing! I was doing really, really well sticking to my caloric range, then I had a few days where I got very, very busy and just missed some meals. Usually this wouldn’t be a huge deal (still not good, I try to eat every 3 ish hours), but since I am nursing it turned out to be a big deal. On Sunday I noticed that my milk supply had GREATLY decreased which is not a good thing, because that means that I did NOT have a happy baby, so I had to really bring in a higher amount of calories (and TONS of water) these past 3 days in order to try and surge my milk supply. Thankfully everything seems back to normal, but I was bummed because I had seen a big drop on the scale on Friday (I know I shouldn’t weigh myself everyday…) and it just wasn’t as dramatic this morning.…
